OHIO SUICIDE PREVENTION FOUNDATION
Suicide Prevention in Ohio’s Hispanic Community
As the fastest growing population group, Ohio’s Hispanic community is comprised of more than 505,000 people, accounting for 4.2 percent of the state’s total population. According to the 2021 American Community
Survey by the U.S. Census Bureau, Ohio’s Hispanic population more than doubled since 2000 and has more than tripled since 1980. Suicide is a growing concern among this population as they are disproportionately affected by economic, social, and health consequences.
