The National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) and the Hispanic and Latino Behavioral Health CoE are collaborating to disseminate culturally driven evidence-based strategies to providers serving Hispanics and Latino communities to address eating disorders. NEDA seeks to fundamentally change the way eating disorders are understood and treated by providing communities with education, early intervention, and groundbreaking research to achieve lasting well-being and recovery. NEDA prioritizes early detection of eating disorders because it greatly improves recovery, however, we know there are low levels of early recognition of symptoms and help-seeking.
Their online screening tool, appropriate for ages 13+, helps determine if an individual is at risk for an eating disorder. Since 2017, over 1 million people have been screened.
Hispanic and Latino communities are deeply impacted by eating disorders, however, they’re less likely to seek help. To increase access to resources for the Hispanic/Latino community, NEDA has launched a Spanish Eating Disorders Online Screening Tool. This culturally relevant tool determines whether an individual is at risk for an eating disorder and connects them to Spanish speaking eating disorder treatment providers across the US.
